Mike & Jill Lyons

Mike Lyons, pastor

Pastor Mike, with over 33 years of ministry experience across south Georgia (Columbus, Leesburg, Macon, Swainsboro, Valdosta, and Warner Robins), became an independent pastor when CFC became an independent church in July of 2022. Pastor Mike's drive is to leverage CFC's joyful strengths to make a difference together for Christ in Claxton and beyond.


Born in Tampa, Florida, Christ came into Pastor Mike's life during high school after his family moved to Perry, Georgia. He and his wife, Jill (originally from Indiana), have three grown children: Jonathan, Anna (married to Joe Keiter), and Aaron. They have two grandchildren: Levi Joseph Keiter and Atha John Keiter. René, raised in Claxton, graduated from Claxton High School and grew up in the Claxton First Church.  She also had a 46 year career at The Claxton Bank. To say she knows everyone in Claxton has a real ring of truth to it! René loves the Lord, helps CFC everywhere she can, and she is faithful in the choir and the handbells.


René serves as "air traffic control" in the CFC office. She keeps the administrative operations humming, keeps the communications flowing, and is always available for a supportive conversation.
